Part of our role as a project manager is always public relations. Providing
honest, straightforward information to communities, neighbors and governments
is essential to move projects from drawing board to completion.
Impact on environments, residents and traffic are just some of our concerns.
The Brigantine Connector was designed to provide access between the
Atlantic City Expressway and Route 30 in Southern New Jersey. On behalf
of Mirage Resorts, Inc. and the Atlantic City Council, Synterra conducted
an extensive community information campaign to foster public support
for the highway connector.
Bringing the Public in.
Designed to pass under an established residential area, the designs
focused on sensitive construction methods such as a passive park to
minimize impact to local residents. Both large and small community meetings
were arranged to discuss community concerns and to minimize speculation
and rumor before construction was initiated.
Building Consensus in Boardrooms
and in Communities.
Synterra constructed detailed scale models of the complete roadway corridor
and passive park above the proposed connector. Models were made available
at public meetings to relieve speculation of nearby residents. Following
the final presentation of design alternatives, Synterras proposal
was enthusiastically approved by the Atlantic City Council.
Connecting Communities.
This underground tunnel connector made way for access from places such
as the Atlantic City Convention Center to the Brigantine community where
various hotels are under construction.
