Synterra, Ltd, was responsible for the site design, construction documentation and construction administration for the recreational development of this 147 acre State Park. The new design embellished an existing master plan developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The project transformed a very limited use park into a user-friendly recreation center while maintaining all of the character of a park. The design included roadways and trails for biking, walking and hiking, designated areas for softball, soccer and football, as well as new entrances.

Current park use was carefully monitored to ensure that existing users weren't disturbed during construction. And while some groups were relocated, their activities were not postponed.

The plan also considered a proposed Veterans Nursing Home adjacent to the northeast corner of the park. With that in mind, Synterra carefully designed one of the new entrances to double as an entrance to the future nursing home.

Trail designs coordinate seamlessly with Fairmount Park's proposed Poguessing Creek trails allowing avid runners, walkers and cyclists a continuous and safe course for their routines.

To enhance the park's historical character and exercise-friendly environment, a new rustic-style pavilion and comfort stations were included in the design.
