The transformation of the Frankford Transportation Center combined a broad set of challenges. From a functional perspective, the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) wanted to improve operations and provide riders with a positive experience. But as a public hub for everyday travelers, it provided a centerpiece for economic revitalization in the surrounding community.

Synterra, Ltd. conducted a marketability study of local commercial opportunities. We led the community and merchant involvement effort by developing a public participation/information program to build consensus between the transportation authority, community groups and merchants to ensure a successful project.

Synterra led the design partnership that developed attractive, safe and efficient walking and waiting areas essential for a transportation hub.

Our experience working for public and government enterprises made Synterra, Ltd. a valuable resource to ensure a smooth working relationship between design team members, the client and the community.
