Synterra, Ltd. was responsible for design and construction documentation for the renovations to this urban plaza.

Synterra, Ltd.’s goal was to concentrate on creating a people-friendly urban space that allows for a variety of activities to bring life back to the plaza. JFK Plaza is a well-used urban open space, popular to the public for its lunchtime users of office workers and summertime concerts.

“Love Park” as it is often dubbed provides a green oasis amidst multistory office and public buildings. Our focus included increasing green space in the existing paved plaza area, retaining the “Love Statue” and strengthening its role as the focal point of the plaza, providing new and appropriate site furniture, creating spaces for market/fair events and introducing pedestrian scale lighting.

The vision to re-instill the Plaza with the spirit of the City of Philadelphia has successfully brought back tourists, office workers and visitors to the Plaza.
