design, construction documentation and construction observation for Pumphouse
Plaza.
Sited on the Hudson River along the northern portion of Battery Park
City, this urban open space serves as a focal point for the waterfront
promenade and is adjacent to six million square feet of prime commercial
development.
Owned and operated by the Port Authority, Pumphouse Plaza functions as
the underground water pumping station for the World Trade Center in New
York City.
In 1985, this plaza was recognized by a national design panel as one
of the most significant new open space projects constructed in New York
City.
